2. Information Collection and Use

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Cookies are used on Classmates.ie to hold your login information so that your school is automatically displayed when you return to the site. Cookies are also used to facilitate optimal use of Classmates.ie by registered users by means of a temporary 'session' cookie. These cookies disappear when a browser session ends, or if the registered user clicks the 'logoff' link.

Registration Information
To register on the Classmates.ie website, you are required to provide your name, the year you left school, the name of the school attended, your email address, and some optional notes about yourself. Once registered, the registration information provided by the user, except for their email address, will be available at the listing for their school.

3. Your Ability to Edit and Delete Registration Information and Preferences

Modify Your Profile
You can modify or add your information at any time. All you have to do is go to the 'My Profile' section and modify your personal information as appropriate.

Delete Your Profile
You can delete all your information at any time. Just send your request using our contact facility and your profile which contains your personal information will be deleted from the Classmates.ie web site promptly.

Newsletters
We provide registered users with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving e-mailed newsletters that they have previously opted to receive. This opt-out can be effected by making appropriate selections in the 'My Profile' section.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Email addresses
We do not directly make your email address available to anyone on any screen of the Classmates.ie website. The only legitimate way of making contact with a friend found via Classmates.ie is for a registered user to enter a message which we will send on their behalf. The email sent will include the registered user's email address so that the recipient can respond to the sender directly. This means by sending a contact message, the sender is disclosing his/her email address.

External Links and Partners
Classmates.ie may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy issues or the content of other sites. We recommend that you review their respective privacy policies, especially if you need to give personal information.

Tell a friend
If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, an email will be sent to the friend by the user, using the Classmates.ie email engine. Under no circumstances will the friends email address or any other details be stored by Classmates.ie until the friend becomes a member and enters this information themselves.

Disclosure for legal reasons
We reserve the right to communicate such of a Member's personal information as we hold to third parties which seek the disclosure of it, and which make a legally-compliant request for its disclosure.
